Tooth decay primarily attacks tooth enamel. This is extremely bad for your oral health. Foods containing carbohydrates (sugar, starch, etc.), cola and similar sugary carbonated drinks, sweet foods such as cakes, chocolate, etc. can be responsible for this. People with an unhealthy diet have a higher risk of tooth decay than people with a sufficient amount of fluoride in the body, as fluoride strengthens the bones and forms a protective film around the teeth. Although saliva is a natural defense mechanism against tooth decay, this alone is not enough to prevent bacterial plaque. Diseases or drugs that reduce the flow of saliva and the amount of saliva also accelerate the formation of caries.
